Runner Girl Nerd Alert!

Have you ever been so excited about sharing something only to realize that almost no one has any idea why you are talking {or typing} so fast??   That may have happened to me last week 🙂 100Yes, there are only 100 days until the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is full of racers on foot rather than on wheels … but that didn’t cause my eyes-wide excitement.  As an Indy Mini Ambassador, we had learned that there was a “big announcement” coming later in the week.  This could mean any number of things … shirt and/or medal reveal, a giveaway or maybe even a discount code.  But I had NO IDEA I would get so giddy over a press release!

Meb Keflezighi, Olympian and 2014 Boston Marathon winner, is running the INDY  MINI this year!!  One of the most decorated runners of all time will be in Indy for the 40th Anniversary of the Mini Marathon and … and I will get to share the race course with him!

Meb is starting with the first and second corral waves, then heading to the back of the pack to allow him to get to know participants from all over the race course.  I went on and on about this for a couple days before someone finally said to me “What’s a Meb?  And why are you so excited about this?”  Watch Meb’s announcement {here}.Photo Jan 28, 3 15 06 PMAfter trying to explain the awesomeness of this announcement, I eventually came to terms with the fact that might be a little bit of a Runner Nerd 🙂  Call it what you will, this girl is pumped that I’m registered and in the #indymini-sponsored drawing to win a seat at a VIP dinner with Meb, Frank Shorter and other elite runners!

Sound like fun?  If you are registered by this Sunday 1/31, you will automatically be entered to win seat at the VIP dinner too!

AND, if you register by 1/31 and select BRANDI WOLF as your referring race ambassador, you’ll also be entered to win this exclusive Indy 500 Next Era cap* from Lids! {*this cap will be available for purchase in Lids stores this spring.)hat giveawayThank you all so much for your wonderfully kind and supportive words from my blogiversary {post} on Tuesday 🙂  Thanks to a couple of well-timed doctor appointments, I got to celebrate by taking these two cuties out to lunch!  blogiversary

In preparation for {Declare It Day} next Saturday, I have put a lot of thought into what goals I am going to crush in 2016.  One of those goals happens to be running my spring half in under 2 hours.  My current PR is 2:06:13 – in my ideal weather conditions (cold!) on a flat, fast course.  While admitting this goal out loud is terrifying to say the least, I learned my lesson last year about not allowing others to hold me accountable.

In our second week of #sub2crew training, our plan called for 3 miles at a 9:25 pace.  Massive wind gusts this morning meant that some of us opted to run inside … on the dreadmill.  But finished those 3 at a 9:21 pace and had time for some arms and abs before coffee!  /Red/ flower for strength today: mentally, physically and spiritually.  sub2 training1Melissa ran outside, but didn’t want to stray too far from the warmth and smell of coffee … her 3 miles looked like this 🙂  sub2 training 2PLEASE consider joining us for Declare It Day and declare your goals virtually by posting them on our Facebook, Twitter or Instagram pages or by emailing  I will share as many as possible on here!!
