Celebrating + Finding Balance

Balance is hard.  I don’t mean a tree pose or triangle pose kind of way {though, depending on the day, that can be hard too}.  I mean in life.  My struggle is well-documented on here – that is, when the stars align for me to find time to write now and then!  Finding my voice back has been on my heart So MUCH recently, but at the same time I feel pulled in so many other directions that I was starting to wonder if blog-land was really meant to be for me.  During this morning’s post-run stretch, I got the affirming words I needed to hear,“You are planning to document our marathon training, right?”

She was hesitant, and her words were full of love … and my heart almost burst with joy when she asked!  When I first started this blog journey, it was a massive group effort – mastering the dark-thirty group selfie for sure!  :)  But life isn’t just about race recaps and matching outfits.  I love to write because it’s therapeutic but also because it helps to me realize just how I/we have come in just the past 2.5 years.  It’s the same reason I love finding old photo albums from middle school, high school and college … while I don’t like to live in the past, it really helps to visit sometimes so you can fully appreciate the YOU ARE HERE portion of your journey.  Even if this is how you feel about it every moment is worth celebrating. There’s still plenty of coffee (some weeks, more java than sole, you know?!) …And lots of new friends from the half marathon/5k training program we’ve been a part of for the past 5+ years …And figuring out how to incorporate delicious desserts into random parts of our day …And key lime pie drizzled in chocolate … because only your very best friends understand what, apparently, no one else in Indiana understands – the genius of Florida-favorite chocolate-covered key lime pie (bonus points to the ice cream parlor in Seaside that puts all of that deliciousness on a stick!!!)  Thanks to my local {and famous!} bakery for coming through!  And if you happen to see Chocolate-C0vered Key Lime Pie on their menu in the near future, you can thank my besties! Focusing Forward.  Onward and Upward.  Forging Ahead.

{Balance} means my family comes first, and making “me-time” a close second (including writing and running and general shenanigans) then the piles of laundry and dirty bathrooms might make the Top 10 if they are lucky ;)

Being able to {reset a bit} on Spring Break is a gift I don’t take for granted.  And being able to spend that time with my parents – and knowing my kids are making those special memories with them as well – makes the trip even sweeter. As I sit here writing, after spending an absolutely perfect day outside – 5 miles with my runner girls followed my soccer games for two of my kids – I feel a sense of balance returning.  As I reflect on the incredible sense of meaning and purpose behind this weekend, and why we would even take time out to recognize a single event that took place over 2000 years ago, I found I wasn’t alone.  I found this on our {FF Crew} page:

“There is so much focus on the death and the resurrection,” he said. “We honor Good Friday and celebrate Easter Sunday, and there is so much to learn there… but the magic? The good stuff? Oh, that happens on Saturday.”

Saturday was the true test of our faith, he said.

Earth’s saddest day and gladdest day were just three days apart!

HE is RISEN!  Happy Easter!
