Running Unplugged

Every few months I make a concentrated effort to unplug from *most* things related to social media to enjoy family time while my kids are on their school breaks.  {Also, to remind myself that it IS possible to run and not blog about it!} That has been the case these past few weeks, though this mini-break lasted a little longer than anticipated … for a variety of reasons that we’ll get to along the way :)  hey, you! save the date!If you follow me on {Instagram} you’ll see that I still love a great photo op – and that no one is safe from my iPhone camera while on vacation!  3eef21e7-462f-4d1d-9e11-989e73d007c1I have two race recaps comin’ at you – the Sam Costa Half Marathon in Carmel and, sort of on a whim, the Sandalwood Run for Hunger 10K/5K on Hilton Head Island,  Both of these races were significant to me for completely different reasons but each opened my eyes to focusing on balance within my training.17eb38ae-c66e-4e49-bb48-659f9a01e750Also on the radar – a #sub2crew training update, celebrating a sweet Runner Girl’s wedding weekend and another dark-thirty birthday party!f7863516-ce5c-410b-8619-f1b38a946865For today, though, I want to know why on earth I was able to wear the new fleece running hoodie I got a few weeks ago because it was on clearance – you know, since it’s SPRING – out for a run this morning?!  With a jacket over it.  And a winter hat.  Really.250a190f-9d09-47f6-a84e-4d246cf5fe8eOn a random but sort of related note – major props to my runner and blogger friends who were able to finish the Syracuse Half Marathon last weekend despite the frigid temps, wind and snow.  Check out these photos from FitFoodieMama and the SHM!54e1fd9e-2b95-42a1-ba9a-c739071b65c57885c981-f7d1-4e61-84ad-4543ba92bc55

  1. Haha, not sure how you ran with all those layers on. I’d get so hot!
Good for you for unplugging regularly. Sigh. Need to work on that.

Right?? I sort of get used to the layers in the winter – but by April those things should be all packed away! The unplugging started as a happy accident because we were just so busy over their school breaks, but it has ended up being such a blessing!
