Declare It Day!

If you read yesterday’s post and have decided you have no time for fear either, you are going to love this!  Fellow Flowers has proclaimed next Saturday, February 7 as Declare It Day!

When you join the Declare It Day movement, you are becoming the champion of your goals for 2015. It’s you betting on YOU. It’s you believing in YOU. It’s making this the year of not just setting goals, but fully and intentionally understanding WHY you are working toward them.        ~Fellow Flowers

Declare It Day is about pushing yourself out of your comfort zone.  It’s about trying something new, even if you don’t really believe (yet) that it is possible.  It’s about writing down your goals … Big Goals, about Anything … and doing something each day to make it happen.  The FF team gives us these tips for making our Declare It Day goals:

  1. Acknowledge your comfort zone, then step out of it
  2. Say it out load
  3. Write it down
  4. Find a friend, or group of friends, to keep you accountable
  5. Declare It!

Now I have a confession to make…I printed out their cute little Declare It Day certificate last year, but never filled it out.  I have no idea what my goals would have been this time last year, but I love a good “to-do” list and I believe I would have loved to see how much I grew as a person and as an athlete last year.  This year, I’m taking a few minutes to think about how I can work harder, train harder and help others more this year!

Now that you are pondering possible Declare It Day goals … a little RG throwback 🙂

The Runner Girls were first introduced to Fellow Flowers at the Chicago Half Marathon Expo in 2013.  A few of us decided to go up for the weekend for shopping and great food, then run the half marathon on Sunday before heading home.  We had bought or made matching shirts for past races, but we decided we’d shop the expo this time and find our race day shirts in Chicago!  (Disclaimer: Normally, I don’t recommend racing in anything you’ve never washed or worn before, but this race wasn’t about our times so we chanced it!)

We picked up our packets and began our search for race shirts.  It wasn’t long before we stumbled upon the Fellow Flowers booth … and, with dozens of meaningful shirts to choose from … we each bought one that fit our personality, our journey, and of course our favorite color!  Now you may be wondering about the random picture attached to the pink shirt in the back.  No worries, Runner Girl Summer had a family situation come up the day before we left, so we took “Flat Summer” all over Chicago with us that weekend!

Pre-Race Coffee of course!

So … Will you join us!?!  Remember, there’s no time for fear when you’re focusing forward.  Dare to dream big.  Then write it down!

And to help you stay accountable – snap a picture of your Declare It Day goals and post on our Facebook or Twitter page!  We will randomly choose two winners (one from each social media site – enter on both to double your chances!) to receive the FF Commitment magnet – so you can hang those goals right in the middle of your fridge if you want!!

I can’t wait to see your posts on February 7!
